placing on the market of genetically modified drought tolerant maize MON 87460 for food and feed uses, import and processing under Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 from Monsanto. EFSA Journal 2012;10(11):2936. [42 pp.]. doi:10.2903/j.efsa.2012.2936.

"No indication of toxicity was found in a subchronic 90-day rat feeding study with diets containing grain from maize MON 87460. The results of the study on chickens for fattening concerning zootechnical performance support the conclusion that maize MON 87460 can be used in the same way as other maize sources as a feeding stuff in animal nutrition. The NPTII protein has been evaluated previously and did not raise safety concerns. The EFSA GMO Panel considers that maize MON 87460 is as safe and as nutritious as its conventional counterpart and commercial varieties, and concluded that this maize and its derived products are unlikely to have adverse effects on human and animal health, in the context of their intended uses."

"In conclusion, the EFSA GMO Panel considers that the information available for maize MON 87460 addresses scientific issues indicated by its risk assessment and monitoring guidelines and the scientific comments raised by the Member States, and that maize MON 87460, as described in this application, is as safe as its conventional counterpart and non-GM reference varieties with respect to potential effects on human and animal health and the environment, in the context of its intended uses."

der genetisch veränderten Maissorte MON 87460 (MON 8746Ø-4) bestehenden, diese enthaltenden oder aus dieser gewonnenen Erzeugnissen gemäß der Verordnung (EG) Nr. 1829/2003 des Europäischen Parlaments und des Rates. ABl. L 112, 1-5 vom 30.04.2015

Die Zulassung gilt für

a) Lebensmittel und Lebensmittelzutaten, die Mais der Sorte MON 8746Ø-4 enthalten, aus diesem bestehen oder aus diesem gewonnen werden;

b) Futtermittel, die Mais der Sorte MON 8746Ø-4 enthalten, aus diesem bestehen oder aus diesem gewonnen werden;

c) Mais der Sorte MON 8746Ø-4 in Erzeugnissen, die ihn enthalten oder aus ihm bestehen, für alle anderen als die unter den
    Buchstaben a und b genannten Verwendungen, außer zum Anbau.
